YCS Fall Festival a Great Success

On Saturday, October 28th, hundreds of members of the extended YCS Community attended the 2016 YCS Fall Festival.  This year’s Fall Festival features bouncey castles, pumpkin arts and crafts, games of skill and chance, a costume parade and delicious food and treats.  We also had our annual Urban Corn Maze, constructed with card board panels from each student in each YCS class (Click Here to see a virtual tour of the maze).  The Festival exceed both revenue and attendance forecasts… and wonderful community event for all.  Thank you to everyone who made it such a success.

YCS Featured in NYC DOE Showcase School Video

For the past two yeascreen-shot-2016-10-18-at-1-30-36-pmrs, YCS has been one of a handful of schools selected by the NYC DOE to be a Showcase School.

As part of this program, YCS has hosted teachers and administrators as they visited the school to learn about the program and processes the school has implemented to encourage development with focus on the key qualities of a learning child.

The NYC DOE recently created a video highlighting the role YCS plays as a show case school.  Click here to watch the video.

We are proud of our school and proud of our community.  Many of the enrichment programs and other services that have contributed to the success of the school would not be available without your support.  Please click here to make a donation to YCS today to continue this great progress.

Welcome to YCS!

Yorkville Community School is a neighborhood elementary school that opened on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in September 2009. We opened our doors with four kindergarten classes, and have been adding a new grade each year. Our school is located in a neighborhood that is rich with cultural institutions, parks, historic landmarks, family run businesses and community based organizations. We pride ourselves in the relationships that we have been developing with these organizations and community businesses in order to meet the needs of our students. Each unit of study is enhanced by the meaningful connections that these amazing neighborhood sites provide our students, within and outside the classroom.
