The YCS Coin Drive has Begun!

The holidays are a great time to start collecting spare change! Your child will be bringing home their personally decorated coin drive box by Wednesday or Thursday of this week. The class in each grade that brings back the most boxes in January wins a prize to be announced. Participation counts no matter how much money is in the box, but all proceeds will benefit our children! We will start collecting the boxes in January in the lobby. If you can place a box in your office, lobby or favorite store, grab one of the extras in the main lobby. If you have not received a box, please contact your class parent or email pta@yorkvillecommunityschool.org

12/22 is the Last Date to Check the Lost & Found!

All unclaimed items in the YCS lost and found will be donated to charity over the holiday break so please check now for any personal items.

2018 Children’s Earth Day Calendar Artwork Contest

For the 27th consecutive year, Sony is hosting a Children’s Earth Day artwork contest. The 2018 calendar theme is: “Picture a better future for our planet.” Artwork should focus on what you imagine when you think of a positive future for our planet and its natural environment. Imagine you are looking through a pair of binoculars into the future—what does it look like? How do we get there? What does a healthy planet mean to you? Twelve first-place winners will have their artwork reproduced in the calendar, and one grand prize winner will be featured both in the calendar and on the cover. Winners will also be able to choose a prize from a PLAYSTATION® 4, Bluetooth Wireless Music System or Alpha camera and lens! DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS DECEMBER 21, 2017

YCS Winter Blast was a Blast!

Our first Winter Blast event on Dec 15th was a huge success. Under a flurry of white and blue decorated snowflakes we enjoyed hot cocoa, building/decorating gingerbread houses, making snowflakes, enjoying popular board games and experiencing an amazing interactive story, created and told by our wonderful YCS parent Rebecca Ashley. The night ended with excitement for winners of all our raffle prizes. Many thanks to our co-chair team of Malee Sebag, Marina Berisha, Sarah McCash, Amanda Wells and Nancy Mark. Special thank you to Rebecca Ashley who went above and beyond with 3 showtimes to accommodate the sold out event. Shoutout to our wonderful volunteers Alison Dow, Sarina Appel, Sheree Murphy, Leah Vinik, Fatma Abdel Qatar, Jen O’Connell, Jessica Riffaterre, Jason Riffaterre, Erin Olsen, Ivana Sotirovic, Julia Acosta, Maria Jimenez, Dave Sebag, Paul Ashley, Al Smith and our wonderful Wagner middle-school volunteers.
