Another Successful Book Fair

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Fall Book Fair!  We had a wonderful turnout both at the school and online, selling a total of $7,622 worth of books. As a result, YCS earned $4,141 in Scholastic dollars. These funds are used by Samantha to buy additional books for our school, along with school and classroom supplies.

A special thank you to our Book Fair chairs Michelle Levitt, Ruth Berghammer and Nesli Ciner. We also want to thank all of the volunteers who helped the event run so smoothly this year. Many of our parents contributed just an hour or two of their time, but it really made a difference!

YCS will Reopen Monday, November 5

Dear YCS Families,

We hope that you and your families are safe and well after the hurricane. We look forward to all students returning to YCS on Monday, November 5th.

As we learned this week, it is not always possible to have access to school wide email. Additionally, our school phones are still experiencing problems and with the extensive damage to phone service citywide, our phones may not be fully functioning next week. Therefore, it is important for families to get information on emergency school closings by:

  • Watching local news stations
  • Calling 311
  • Checking the Department of Education website – for updated information.

To be proactive and avoid any unknowns, we encourage families to send their child to school with a bagged lunch on Monday. This will be helpful in case there are any problems with food service due to supply and demand.

Reminder: School will be closed on Tuesday, November 6th for Election Day.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
